An important component of PediPlace’s programs is family education and health promotion. We focus on developing partnerships with parents to teach parents and children about their health concerns, medicines and the proper use of the emergency room.
Newborn Education: We are concerned that new parents receive the appropriate education about providing care to newborn children and proper instruction on how to and when to access our services. Our Providers provide parents with the knowledge and tools to help their newborns grow up healthy and includes information about check-ups, immunizations, nutrition, when to and when not to use the emergency room, developmental expectations and child safety.
Cross Cultural Health Promotion: The economic, cultural and language challenges experienced by our families creates barriers in accessing regular healthcare. Through regularly scheduled visits in our Healthy Babies and Healthy Kids Programs, our providers establish a partnership with parents and caretakers. The trust and understanding built in this partnership increases the overall health and well-being of the entire family. For our Hispanic patients, bilingual, culturally-aware medical providers and assistants are able to address specific concerns. Our providers spend considerable time educating our families on the different stages of child development, proper nutrition and specific needs for their child or children.
