FAQ's


Can you see my child who has private insurance? 
PediPlace is one of the very few non-profit pediatric primary-care healthcare organizations in North Texas dedicated exclusively to serving uninsured children and children with Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) benefits. We do not accept private insurance. 

My infant does not have insurance. Can s/he still be seen?
PediPlace’s Healthy Babies program’s primary objective is to increase the number of uninsured children ages 0-15 months receiving the recommended number of American Academy of Pediatrics well visits. While there is no cost for these well-child visits and vaccines, there are fees for lab tests, sick visits, and re-check appointments.

Do I have to have the correct Primary Care Provider (PCP) information at the time of our visit?
Yes. the Primary Care Provider you provide at check in must be one of our medical providers. Please visit Our Providers page for our list. 

Do I always need to bring a picture ID and Medicaid card each time I come to PediPlace?
Yes, every time you bring your child(ren) for a PediPlace appointment, you must have some form of picture ID and your Medicaid card or number.

Do I always have to have an appointment to be seen?
For the convenience of all our patients, PediPlace sees patients by appointment. Please call 972-436-7962 to schedule an appointment for your sick child or well-child examination. We make every effort to provide same day or next day sick visit appointments. Appointments help us see your child faster and provide better care.

Will I be seen at the exact time of my appointment?
Not always. We are a pediatric office; therefore, we cannot guarantee that you will be seen at your exact time. This is highly dependent on the acuity level of the patient before you.

If I request an appointment on SolutionReach, am I making the appointment for the time and date that I choose?
No. Someone will be in contact with you to let you know if the time you chose is available. To request an appointment at SolutionReach, click here.  

What if my child is sick when PediPlace is not open?
We have an after hours nurse on-call service. Please call 972-436-7962, and you will be given the after-hours call service phone number.

Do you have Saturday hours?
Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM and Tuesday 8AM-8PM.

How do I get a copy of my child’s medical record and/or shot record?   
Please visit the office to sign a release of records form and pay $25 for the entire medical record or $5 for the shot record. You will then be called when your copy is ready for pick up in 5-7 business days. If you are transferring records to another doctor’s office, there is no charge for the record to be sent on a CD to the new office.

Is my child’s medical information private?
Yes. We follow HIPAA guidelines and recommendations.

What is a nurse practitioner?
Nurse practitioners are primary health care providers who provide nursing and medical services to individuals and families stressing the importance of health promotion and disease prevention. They also diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses. They also serve in multiple roles as educator, counselor, and patient advocates.

Will I see the same provider each visit?
We strive to provide continuity of care, but there will be times when you may have to see a different provider. Please be assured that all of our providers strive to provide quality care to each of our patients.

How do I get my prescriptions refilled?
We ask that you contact the pharmacy first, so that we may receive the request electronically to expedite your refill.

Can I come in for shots only?
We prefer that you schedule a well-child exam, so that we may ensure that your child is up-to-date not only with vaccines but address any additional issues you may have.
