The following real life circumstance is just an example of what
we do to help provide our community with the healthcare needs they
may encounter:
Imagine being a parent of an
asthmatic child and having no health insurance. You only make
minimum wage and you have no money to pay a doctor.
When the symptoms begin, what do you do? You wait,
praying your child will somehow manage to beat it on their own. When
they get sicker and sicker, you rush them to the emergency
room because that's the only place you can get help. Your
child is eventually treated and sent home. What will you do next
time? How will you manage your child’s asthma? A child at risk, a
missed day of work for you, less money to pay a doctor...and so
the cycle continues. This is reality for many parents in Denton
County.
